Varsity vs Marion High School (5 - 4) Win Peru Varsity Tigers took Monday's game in dramatic fashion, with a 5-4 walk-off victory over Marion. The game was tied at four in the bottom of the seventh when Whitney singled, scoring one run. Peru Varsity Tigers came back to win despite trailing 4-0 in the third. Marion were the first to get on the board in the first when Mauler singled, scoring one run. A single by Balderas extended the Marion lead to 2-0 in the top of the second inning. Mauler homered to left field, scoring two runs in the top of the third for the Marion. Peru Varsity Tigers scored on a wild pitch, which helped Peru Varsity Tigers tie the game at four in the bottom of the sixth. Boswell earned the win for Peru Varsity Tigers. The pitcher allowed six hits and zero runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking one. Inman took the loss for Marion. The hurler went three and one-third innings, giving up four runs (three earned) on six hits, striking out three and walking two. Bielanski led things off on the hill for Peru Varsity Tigers. The pitcher allowed five hits and four runs over two and one-third innings, striking out three and walking one. Mauler began the game for Marion. The hurler gave up two hits and one run over three innings, striking out two and walking three. Whitney and Hiles each collected two hits for Peru Varsity Tigers. Boswell, Whitney, and Musser each drove in one run for Peru Varsity Tigers. Marion tallied 11 hits in the game. Mauler drove the middle of the lineup, leading Marion with three runs batted in. The pitcher went 3-for-3 on the day. Payne and Freshwater each collected multiple hits for Marion. Marion ran wild on the base paths, tallying five stolen bases for the game.
