Varsity Baseball Wins 4-3 over Wabash in Extra Innings It came down to the wire on Wednesday, as Peru Varsity Tigers grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 4-3, over Wabash. The game was tied at three in the bottom of the eighth when an error scored one run. Peru Varsity Tigers were the first to get on the board in the third when Rodriguez hit a solo home run to center field. Wabash took the lead in the top of the seventh. Elzroth singled, scoring two runs, to give Wabash the lead, 3-2. Musser hit a sacrifice fly, which helped Peru Varsity Tigers tie the game at three in the bottom of the seventh. Boswell earned the win for Peru Varsity Tigers. The pitcher allowed five hits and three runs (one earned) over eight innings, striking out four and walking two. McWhirt took the loss for Wabash. The hurler went two-thirds of an inning, surrendering one run (zero earned) on one hit, striking out one and walking one. Long started the game for Wabash. The starting pitcher surrendered six hits and two runs over six innings, striking out two and walking two. Peru Varsity Tigers piled up nine hits in the game. Rodriguez led Peru Varsity Tigers with two runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The first baseman went 2-for-3 on the day.
