⚾️Varsity Baseball Wins 16-6 Over Pioneer Rodriguez hit three home runs and drove in five as Peru Varsity Tigers defeated Pioneer Varsity Panthers 16-6 on Thursday. Rodriguez homered in the first, fourth, and fifth innings. Peru Varsity Tigers got on the board in the top of the first inning after Boswell singled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Ulery doubled, scoring two runs, and Rodriguez homered to center field, scoring two runs. Pioneer Varsity Panthers scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the second inning. Blickenstaff singled, scoring one run, Maciejewski doubled, scoring three runs, and Weldy singled, scoring one run. Peru Varsity Tigers added to their early lead in the top of the third inning when Ulery singled, scoring one run, Braley doubled, scoring two runs, and Boswell drew a walk, scoring one run. Peru Varsity Tigers added four more runs in the top of the fourth inning on two hits. Erickson induced Ulery to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, Rodriguez homered to center field, scoring two runs, and Musser drew a walk, scoring one run. Two more Peru Varsity Tigers runs crossed the plate in the fifth inning to extend the lead to 16-6. A wild pitch scored one run, and Rodriguez hit a solo home run to left field. Whitney earned the win for Peru Varsity Tigers. The starter allowed two hits and four runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking two. Boswell pitched three and one-third innings in relief for Peru Varsity Tigers. The reliever surrendered four hits and two runs (one earned) while, striking out one and walking one. Carter took the loss for Pioneer Varsity Panthers. The hurler went two and two-thirds innings, giving up nine runs (one earned) on seven hits, striking out five and walking one. Peru Varsity Tigers collected 13 hits in the game. Whitney, Braley, and Rodriguez each collected three hits for Peru Varsity Tigers. Ulery collected two hits for Peru Varsity Tigers in four at bats. Musser led Peru Varsity Tigers with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting seven walks for the game. Braley stole three bases. Peru Varsity Tigers stole seven bases in the game. Maciejewski went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Scott led Pioneer Varsity Panthers with two hits in three at bats.
