Northwestern scored four runs in the fifth inning, which helped them defeat Peru Varsity Tigers 7-1 on Tuesday. A double by Dill on a 3-0 count put Northwestern on the board in the top of the first. Northwestern committed an error, which helped Peru Varsity Tigers tie the game at one in the bottom of the first. A ground out by Trueblood gave Northwestern the lead, 2-1, in the top of the third. Begley earned the win for Northwestern. The starting pitcher surrendered two hits and one run over six and two-thirds innings, striking out 12 and walking three. Boswell took the loss for Peru Varsity Tigers. The pitcher went four and one-third innings, giving up five runs on seven hits, striking out four and walking two. Bellar led Peru Varsity Tigers with two hits in three at bats. Peru Varsity Tigers turned one double play in the game. Northwestern accumulated 10 hits in the game. Garcia drove the middle of the lineup, leading Northwestern with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Begley, Jones, and Trueblood each collected two hits for Northwestern.
